Since the beginning of time, in some way or another, Art has been a part of civilization. There have been various times of history and styles being recognized by the adjective Art Movements which distinguish one from another. In some way, even animals have had their "hand" in making different forms, though to what degree of recognition it is unknown as to exactly what it is they are doing. For instance, does an elephant know that, by putting a brush with paint on it and pointing it to a canvas to stroke it, that there is an awareness of Art? All the same, though, it is CREATING and that is what the focal point of Art always has been... UNIQUE ONTO ITSELF whether it be a cave wall, bronze or a canvas. With the birth of technology and the internet came yet another innovative way in order for people to express themselves through Art. In 1998, Mr. John Cristy purchased an online studio known as Image Magick and donated it, free of charge to whomever wished to make use of it. With the help of 2 volunteers Tigerlilly and Susan the unfamiliar Functions and Effects of how to use it were figured out and from it came the birth of a new Art movement EXTREME DIGITAL IMAGERY Since then, many more adaptions have been added and it has been virtually a rewarding challenge for each and any Imager who chooses to tackle the possibilities of how they can be utilized, as the Studio evolves in new developmental ways. The popularity of Extreme Imaging has manifested itself through the years and so too has the population of Imagers. Just what is Extreme Imaging? It is the ability to take an article, be it a photo, a drawing, a painting, there is even a way to start with nothing but to create a backdrop going into the Studio and to alter it in such a way as to EXPRESS oneself, usually in such a way as to have the original no longer be recognizable but to have the very Essence of the Imager expressed throughout. These changes can go from mild to severe, what we identify as going "OVER THE TOP" with the material and very dramatically changing any semblance that it once had to it's original state yet still considered as FINE ART Being fairly young in it's lifespan, having been practiced for only 8 years, Extreme Imagery has even outlived some of the more well known Movements yet is still yearning to be recognized in the course of Art History as a viable and real part of it all. There has been online adaptations of Imaging which involve using software programs, scripting, etc. The TRADITIONAL form of Art known as Extreme Imaging began and still breathes it's uniqueness from using Image Magick studio and only the creative genius of an Imager unto themselves. What you have just seen has been a small sampling of Images and Imagers, done in a bit of a "tongue in cheek" motif. Creating Extreme Imagery is in no way an easy task to accomplish. Just learning how to use Image Magick Studio itself is a "labor of love" for this Art. On the following page are the names of those contributors and a chance for you to take a longer time to study and enjoy just some of their work. ***A fact to consider... There are, by far, multitudes of more people who know how to do extensive brain surgery than who are capable of accomplishing this Art form.
